Rivers APC crisis not necessary—Abe

The senator representing Rivers South East in the National Assembly, Magnus Abe has said that the current crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State is unnecessary and avoidable.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting of his faction of APC in the state, Abe stated that the quarrels between the leaders of the party was uncalled for if the right thing was done.

Abe said, “we will continue to insist that the APC crisis in Rivers State is totally unnecessary. It was uncalled for and there was absolutely no need for it.

“But people, in their quest to satisfy whatever ego that drives men at every point in time, created artificial disunity among members of the party.”

Abe, who stated that he remained the governorship candidate of the party for the election, urged his loyalists and leaders of his faction to respond to any invitation by the national reconciliation committee of the party if they receive any.

His words: “We decided that for the sake of this party, for the sake of those who have invested their lives in Rivers State APC, we must do whatever we can to see that the party is not destroyed in the state.

“I want to appeal to everybody: we are loyal members of APC and if we are invited by the Committee to hear from us, I think that we should be very eager to take our case before the party.”
