By: Michael Ita Bassey

Wednesday April 27, 2016 is a day the family of Mr. Koriete Isaac wished never had come as their 3 years-old-son, Damiete Isaac was stolen on his way to school by an unknown lady along Akokwa Street in Diobu axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Master Damiete Isaac who happens to be the only son of the family is a pupil of Our’s Lord Day Care, Nursery and Primary School situated at No. 83 Akokwa Street, Mile 1, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The Port Harcourt Spectator gathered that, the little boy on that fateful day left home for school with his elder sister Soibifaa Isaac (8 years) before he was allegedly stolen.

Narrating the unfortunate incident to our correspondent, mother of the missing child, Mrs. Boma Isaac regretted that her son, Damiete never wanted to go to school on that fateful day until she convinced him to.

According to her, “only God knows where my son is. Damiete never wanted to go to school that day not until I promised to buy him tea and biscuit, which I did before he and his sister left home.

“After they left for school, about 8.20am my daughter (Soibifaa) came back from school and told me that one woman sent her to come back home and ask me how much 10 litres of kerosene is been sold, and I should also tell her how much her mother is owing me. The first question I asked was, where is my son (Damiete)? She replied that she has dropped him in school, and I shouted on her to go back to school immediately,” Mrs. Isaac lamented.

She decried the failure of men of the Nigeria Police Force to feel her pains by helping her to find her son. “I went to the Illoabuchi Police Station to report the incident only for them to tell me to drop my phone number that the officer in-charge of such case was not on seat which I did, I also proceeded to the Rivers State Police Headquarters, Moscow Road where I was referred to the Mini-Okoro Police Station, when I got there, I logged my complain and I was again referred to Mile One Police Station Diobu, on getting to Mile One, they said they cannot attend to me.

While praying to God to secure their son, the family called on the Police and all relevant agencies to come to their aid and do everything within their power to rescue Damiete alive.

Mrs. Goodness Anolaba, Head Management of Our’s Lord Day Care, Nursery and Primary School, where Damiete and his elder sister were schooling confirmed the incident.

She stated that the school is working with the family to know the whereabouts of the little lad even though the incident did not happen in the school premises.

Efforts to get the reaction of the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Mohammad on the matter has yielded no result as calls and text messages to his phones have not been responded to.
