Former Rivers PDP boss is dead

A former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Rivers State, Chief Godwin Umejuru Ake is dead.

A family source confirmed that he died around 10pm Monday night but did not say the place of his death.

Ake was the chairman of the PDP in Rivers State until in 2013 when he was removed in controversial circumstances by the Appeal Court and replaced by the present chairman, Felix Obuah, which later made him to pitch tent with the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

He was also a former South-South National Vice Chairman of the party.

The deceased who hailed from Erema in Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni Local Government Area of the state held various positions in government before his demise.

He was a former Deputy Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly in second republic, former Special Adviser on Lands to the Governor of Rivers State in 1999.
