Ebonyi: Umahi reshuffles cabinet, sacks local government chairmen

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has sacked Local Government Council Caretaker Chairmen in the state barely a year after they were appointed.

The governor also carried out a minor cabinet reshuffling.

The decision was contained in a statement issued by the State’s Commissioner for Information, Sen Emmanuel Onwe,  directing  the affected Chairmen to hand over government property in their possession before the end of Thursday.

 “The Caretaker Chairmen are directed to hand over to Heads of Personel Management (HPMs) in their respective local government before the close of business on Thursday September 8, 2013”.

The cabinet members whose portfolios were changed include, Mrs. Elizabeth Nwogbaga who was in charge of Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution. She was transferred to Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Mr. Francis Orji, from the Ministry of Water Resources was moved to Border Peace and Conflict Resolution.

Mrs. Euphemia Nwali was moved from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to Water Resources Ministry.

While Donatus Njoku of the Solid Minerals will be taking over Economic Empowerment and Job Creation from his counterpart, Rt. Hon Sabinus Nwankwegu.
