Airforce destroy barges of stolen petroleum products in Niger Delta

Just a few days after the threat by Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), to bomb oil facilities in the Niger Delta region, which has continue to elicit panic and well-meaning Nigerians continue to warn against renewal of attacks, Nigerian Airforce Helicopter Gunships said it has bombed and destroyed several oil barges of oil smugglers siphoning crude in Niger Delta

Confirming the bombardment in a statement on Tuesday, Director of NAF Public Relations, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya said, “The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully destroyed some oil barges, containing stolen oil products, at Adokiakiri community in the Niger Delta.

“The illegal oil barges and storage facilities were spotted by the NAF EC-135 Helicopter during an armed reconnaissance mission on 5 November, 2017 and they were all subsequently destroyed.

“The NAF remains resolute in making oil theft and illegal bunkering unprofitable.”
