Court docks man for robbing car at gun point in Port Harcourt

One Izuchukwu Mba ‘m’ 27yrs has been docked in a magistrate court in Port Harcourt over allegation of robbing a Toyota Camry car at gunpoint along Station Road in Port Harcourt.

Also joined in his trial is one Mohammed Usman ‘m’ 35yrs whom the police accused of obtaining the alleged stolen car from the first defendant around Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt even when he knew that the car was stolen.

The car which was allegedly robbed by the first defendant and others now at large on June 11, 2019 with registration number: EP 31 PHC was said to have belonged to one UKpono Udoette Akpan ‘m’.

In a 3-count charge slammed on the defendants by the police, the duo are now standing trial for conspiracy and armed robbery in charge number: PMC/1584c/19, adding that the stolen car was valued at N430,000 only.

 “Count one, that you Izuchukwu Mba and others now at large on the 11th day of June, 2019, along Station Road, Port Harcourt did conspire amongst yourselves to commit armed robbery and thereby committed and offence punishable under section 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act R11 LFN, 2004.

“Count two, that you and others now at large on the same date and place did arm yourselves with gun and robbed one UKpono Udoette Akpan ‘m’ of his Toyota Camry car with registration number: EP 31 PHC valued N430,000, property of the said victim and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 3(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act R11 LFN, 2004.

“Count three, that you Muhammed Usman on the 16th day of June, 2019 at Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt did receive one Toyota Camry car with the aforementioned registration number being the property of the same victim which was obtained by an act you knew was unlawfully obtained and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 5 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap R11 LFN, 2004.”

Meanwhile, the same court has adjourned till October 28, 2019, after one Isaac Johnson ‘m’ 34yrs was arraigned on grounds of attempted killing of one Grace Okon ‘f’ on September 17, 2019, at Nsirim Hotel, Rumuokoro, in Obio/Apkpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to charge number: PMC/1864c/2019, “that you Isaac Johnson on the 17th day of September 2019 at Nsirim Hotel, Rumuokoro in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District did unlawfully attempt to kill one Grace Okon by strangling her neck with a towel with intent to kill her and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 320(2) of the Criminal Code Cap, 37 Vol 11, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.”
