Rivers Commissioner confident of excellent performance in BECE Examination

Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku, has expressed hope that there would be excellent performance by students in the state writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) otherwise called Junior West African Examination.

Ebeku made this assertion after monitoring the take-off of the examination in the state at the weekend in Port Harcourt.

The commissioner who visited Obio/Akpor Custodian Centre and some schools in Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt City Local Government Areas said candidates had been fully prepared for the examination over a period of one month when schools reopened for exit classes.

He also expressed satisfaction with the distribution of examination materials to representatives of public and private schools in the LGA.s as well as the level of compliance with the COVID-19 protocols by schools, teachers and students.

‘As you can observe the process is seamless and smooth. Schools have been coming to collect their materials. I am happy with what I have observed so far and this is what I have to say; we do not have shortages in terms of materials and what have you.

“We are expecting that the exams will come and go smoothly without hitches. We expect better performance from the students,”he stated.
