Youth leader calls on youths in Rivers State to present themselves for elective positions

Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Tai local government chapter in Rivers State, Mr Kingsley Dimkpa has urged youths in the state to prepare and take part in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

Dimpka made the call in an event to mark this years’ celebration of National Youth Day in Tai.

He pointed out youths can only contribute to national development when they take part in elections and other democratic processes.

“I call on youths of Rivers State and Tai youths particularly to use this opportunity that the #ENDSARS protest has brought to ensure that they vote for their fellow youths and also appeal to them that in the coming 2021 local government elections in Rivers State, from chairmanship to councillorship. Let them ensure they buy forms and participate actively  because its only when they contest that they can be in position of trust,” he said.

He also advised the youths against allowing themselves to be used as thugs by politicians or as errand boys as they have a lot to contribute to the country through legitimate ventures.

He also used the medium to congratulate youths from the area who have held positions of trust.

While commenting on the Ogoni clean-up exercise, he called on the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, HYPREP,  to ensure provision of portable drinking water for the people as well as release the fund meant for alternative means of livelihood for those in artisanal refining.
