DSS raises alarm, names states violence are being plotted in Nigeria

The Department of State Services (DSS) has raised the alarm against plans by some Nigerians to launch ethno-religious violence in the country.

The warning was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Service, Dr Peter Afunanya.

According to the statement, the targeted states include Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Plateau, Rivers, Oyo, Lagos and parts of South East.

It stated that the plans were targeted at religious centres, leaders and other prominent Nigerians.

Afunanya said intelligence had revealed that the group were working with external forces to incite religious violence across the country.

According to him, the Service warned the elements to desist from any planned nefarious acts or face the full wrath of the law.

He stated that the DSS would collaborate with other security and law enforcement agencies in the country to take necessary steps to ensure the safety of lives and property of the citizenry.
