With the 2023 general election still far away, a political pressure group, Rivers Voice of Freedom (RVF) has thrown it weight behind Senator Magnus Ngei Abe to become the governor of Rivers State.
Abe is the immediate past lawmaker representing Rivers South East Senatorial District and a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.
The group came out with this while inaugurating the executives of Obio/Akpor local government chapter on Sunday.
The group which is loyal to the Abe camp of the APC in Rivers State said they came together as youths to fight for their political future after the wrong decisions by some leaders of the party crippled their chances of participating in the electoral process in the state in 2019.
Speaking at the occasion, a former Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House, Tony Okocha expressed his support and believe in the aspiration of the group, while calling on members to be steadfast and committed in realizing their dream.
Okocha who is the Obio/Akpor leader of the group pledged to do all within his power to support the actualisation of the group’s visuion while noting that the area is totally with Senator Magnus Abe.
He said: “One thing I am sure of is that nobody can stop an idea when its time has come, our time has come. Don’t be bothered by what you are seeing, do not bother about the difficulties because ofcourse without difficulties there will be no providence.
“As soon as providence comes, the difficulties will give way. I want to enjoin you to please remain steadfast and committed to this course because at the end of the day, victory shall be ours.”
On his part, President General of the group, Comrade Dominic Dumekpigi said the group is out to defend the rights of those that have suffered political injustice in the party and state at large.
He charged the newly inaugurated executives to tow the part of Abe in fighting injustice and playing politics of inclusiveness and mutual respect for one another.
Dumekpigi also used the medium to urge members of the party that are yet to register and revalidate their membership to take advantage of the window provided by the national leadership of the party to do so.
Responding, Kingsley Emenike, the Obio/Akpor chapter chairman promised not to disappoint the group in moblising grassroots support for their principal.
