Past chairmen, their deputies, secretaries ad chiefs of staff of Andoni local government area of Rivers State are no longer entitled to pensions from the council.
This is even as a new law repealing the former pension’s bye-law has been passed.
The previous bye-law which is now repealed was passed in 2013 under Ereforukuma Nte as chairman.
The now repealed law provided for a monthly pension for past elected executive council chairmen, their vices, secretaries of council and chiefs of staff.
Leader of the Andoni Legislative Assembly, Sheila Nte while speaking o the new law said with the repeal, no former chairman will be entitled to any kind of fringe benefits.
