Port Harcourt comedian calls for good governance in Nigeria

A Port Harcourt based comedian, K.O Baba has added his voice to millions of Nigerians calling on leaders to propagate an electoral system that focuses on personal ideologies that will bring about good governance in Nigeria.

Speaking on a live radio programme monitored in Port Harcourt, the comedian attributed the lopsided democratic practice in Nigeria as a government lacking in ideologies and advocated for a transparent electoral system that will bring about competent leaders to save the nation from imminent collapse.

According to him, the current system of government does not promote credible candidacy as political parties take advantage of the corrupt system to throw up incompetent candidates in our elections with the hope to rig themselves into power.

‘When we have an electoral system that is credible, political parties would be more careful in choosing their candidates as they know that it may not be easy to rig the elections,” he said.

He condemned the present electoral system in the country that votes political parties instead of credible candidates, describing it as fraudulent and urged political parties to review their constitutions to reflect the amendments of the Electoral Act as passed by the National Assembly.
