By: Felix Ikpotor

As politicking for the 2023 general elections gradually takes shape, a socio-political pressure group, Rivers Voice of Freedom (RVF) has called on Senator Magnus Ngei Abe to contest for the governorship seat of Rivers State.

The group made the call at the inauguration of the Ahoada East local government area chapter of the body.

RVF said Abe has the qualities and pedigree to govern the state.

President-General of RVF, Comrade Dominic Dumekphigi in his address at the occasion said the group which is loyal to the Magnus Abe led faction of the All Progressives Congress in the state, is committed to ensuring that Rivers people are liberated from the hands of high-handed leaders and to propagate justice and fairness in the political space of the state.

He recalled the situation whereby members of the party were refused from exercising their franchise in 2019 because of the action of some leaders of the party, stressing that they can no longer sit and allow their future to be jeopardized by such leaders.

“We have seen the Most Distinguished Senator Magnus Abe as a man who has the people at heart. We see him as a man who has the will to transform Rivers State, he is grass-rooted and he has the people on his side so on this note, we are calling on him to come up and present himself to contest in the forthcoming governorship election in Rivers State in 2023”.

“RVF is calling on him to come up and present himself and we will support him,” Dumekphigi said.

He noted that Abe’s antecedents as a two term senator representing Rivers South East, former Minority Leader of Rivers State House of Assembly, former Secretary to Rivers State Government and Information and Communication Commissioner stands him out as the best for the Brick House job.

The group urged the people not to be deceived by the propaganda of some persons but to go home and mobilised for the party and Senator Abe.

He also charged the newly inaugurated executives of the body in the LGA to go all out and mobilise in their various units and wards for Abe.

On his part, Engr. Ineye Jack who represented Senator Abe at the event commended RVF for the work they are doing and for standing for fairness and justice in the party.

Jack who is also the State Secretary of the Abe-led faction of the party urged the people to get their permanent voters cards and be ready to participate in the direct primaries of the party to elect their leaders.

He noted that Abe symbolizes freedom, willful participation in politics and as such they have decided to queue behind him for the governorship seat of the state in 2023.

On the call on the senator to contest the governorship election in the state, he assured that Abe will not disappoint the people as he will contest the elections and with God and the people on his side, he will win.

“Let me assure you that Magnus Abe won’t disappoint you, he will throw in the towel and contest the elections. Soon he will tell Rivers people of his interest to contest the election,” Jack said.

The party leader also said Abe is the only man within the party that has such towering pedigree to represent the party in the forthcoming elections in the state and win as he has the capacity to take Rivers State to  where it ought to be.

He said we are sure that Manus Abe, ” with all of us supporting him can give us a better Rivers State, a state where we can beat our chest and tell our children that we made the right choice”.

Jack charged the people to go all out and mobilize for Abe and be prepared to elect him in 2023 and promised that their efforts will never be forgotten.

“Stand firm with Magnus Abe and you won’t be disappointed,” he said.

Also speaking, Hon. Innocent Ajaelu, the State Treasurer of the party said the people should not be tired but to double their efforts in massively mobilising in their units and wards for Senator Abe.

Highpoints of the event was the reception of some defectors of other political parties into the Abe political family with the assurance that they will be given equal opportunities.
