Rivers 2023: Group wants Ojukaye to contest governorship

A Non Government Organization, Hope Alive Initiative has called on Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, a former chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government area of Rivers State to vie for the office of governor in the 2023 General Election.

The group which made it’s position known after a meeting on Thursday also promised to support him with 50% of the price for nomination form to enable him pick it.

Chairman of the group, Comrade Kingsley Ogbunye in a briefing with newsmen, said: “Finally and very importantly, may I inform this house and the general public that after a wide consultation and internal resolution, the Hope Alive Initiative in it last executive meeting decided to make a clarion call to the former Asalga council chairman and the immediate past state chairman of the APC in Rivers state in person of Comrade. Hon Ojukaye Flag Amachree to please run for the position of Governor of Rivers State.

“We assure him of our unwearying support, commitment and collaboration and to back this with action, we have resolved to levy every member of HAI to enable us pay 50% of his guber ticket fee”.

Ojukaye, it was gathered, is one of the frontline contenders for the number one job in Rivers in the Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi’s camp of the APC in Rivers State considering the fact that Amaechi has never hidden hid desire to see a governor from the reverine area emerge in 2023. .

Sources say although he is yet to officially declare his intention to contest any election in 2023, he has hinted those within his close cycle about his ambition.
