Cultists sign peace pact in Rivers community

No fewer than 120 warring youths of Gwara Community, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State have signed a peace pact and sworn an oath to shun cultism, kidnapping and all forms of social vices in the area.

This followed a peace and security programme initiated by Bua Gwara Peace and Security Council in with the chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Thomas Bariere.

Coordinator of Bua Gwara Peace and Security Council and former CTC chairman of Khana ,  Gbene Lekue Zini commended the repentant cultist for turning out enmass to embrace peace. He promised that the process of empowering them will be the next phase  of the programme.

Two leaders of the warring groups Mr. Felix Nwile a.k.a Baba and Mr. Nwidum Yaateh a.k.a Wizzel at the meeting, pledged not to return to crime again. They  expressed satisfaction with the process assuring that they will all work together in unity for the  development of the community.

On his part,  Chairman of Khana council, Dr. Thomas Bariere said his administration is happy with the peace process because the youths of Gwara who were at loggerheads with each other have decided to lay down their arms and embraced peace.

Thomas assured the repentant cultists that they will be integrated into the council’s   programmes to make them useful to themselves, families the LGA and the nation at large.
