Community extols Rivers council chair on devt

Concerned Citizens of Kono, the apex development and socio-economic group of Kono community in Khana local council of Rivers State has lauded the council boss Dr Thomas Bariere for his developmental strides across the council.

Mr Constance Ledogo, President of the Concerned Citizens of Kono while presenting an address on behalf of the association lauded the chairman for the life transforming projects initiated across the area within his first 100days in office and his proactive approach to tackling the insecurity issues that had bedeviled the area before this time.

He  stated that Dr.Thomas has not only demonstrated that he came prepared for leadership but also shown clearly that he has the people of Khana at heart.

The group further expressed gratitude to the chairman for appointing an illustrious son of the community,  Dr. Kenneth Yowika to serve in his cabinet.

Speaking further, the group called on the Khana local government council to look into some issues affecting their community.

” We know you have done alot for Khana people within your short time in office and we are extremely grateful but as Oliver Twist, we will always ask for more. We would want to draw the attention of the council to the dilapidated state of the Kono Cottage Hospital, the Government Craft Centre Kono as well as the need to site an intentional market at Kono Waterside following it enormous economic viability”.

The Khana council boss, in his remark assured the community leaders that he will continue to do more for Khana people.

Thomas while addressing the issues of concern raised in their address, approved the renovation of the Kono Cottage Hospital and directed the Vice Chairman of Council Mrs Nugbenekpughi Ibrahim who doubles as the Supervisor for Health to assess the state of the hospital and report back to the council in due time. He further added that council will ensure that the revamping of the Kono Craft Centre is added in the 2022 appropriation bill.
