Rivers police arrest four suspects over taxi driver’s murder

 Rivers State Police Command says its operatives tracked and arrested four suspects for allegedly killing a taxi driver identified as Onyekachi Obioma Chukwuagu.

The victim was killed in Rumuodogo community in Emohua Local Government Area of the state on March, 22, 2022.

The suspects were reported to have kidnapped him while disguising as passengers and eventually killed him after he resisted their attempt to snatch his car.

According to Grace Iringe-Koko,  acting spokesman of the state police command, the suspects abandoned their victim’s vehicle by the roadside after the attack.

She said on receipt of the information, men of the command were “swiftly deployed to cordon off the area”.

The suspects include; Obichi Ngita (20), Chisom Honest (20), Young Chitu (21) and Omens Woke (21).

The police said Honest was arrested after an intense search after which he led operatives of the command to the location of the corpse and assisted in the arrest of the remaining suspects.

The police spokesman also revealed that the suspects confessed to killing their victim with a machete “for refusing to cooperate with them”.

The  police spokesperson  also assured that efforts are on to arrest other suspects indicted in the matter while promising that the suspects would be prosecuted after investigation.
