Eid-el-Fitri: Dagogo sues for religious tolerance

A frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State and Member representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Doctor Farah Dagogo, has urged Nigerians to exhibit religious tolerance.

He made this known through a statement by his media aide Ibrahim  Lawal marking this year Muslims Eid-El-Fitri celebration.

While congratulating Muslims on the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fasting, Dagogo enjoined them to continue to pray and support government at all levels.

The federal lawmaker decried the gradual division of the country along religious lines, pointing out that it is wrong to construe any religion as superior to the other.

” I congratulate the Muslims community on the celebration of this year Eid-el-Fitri, which is an immediate summation of this year’s Ramadan fasting.

“As we celebrate, we should not lose sight of the fact that our country is being gradually divided through religious line. It is also glaring that if not handled with utmost tolerance, it has the potential of snowballing into something unpleasant with negative consequences for the country.

“The point is, with Nigeria considered a secular nation, it is paramount we encourage all religions to be open minded as well as exhibit same level of mutual respect.

” Having espoused on that fundamental reminder, I urge all Muslims to maximize the benefits of this period to support and pray for government at all levels, ” he added.
