Rivers: Igburu youths resist planned endorsement of Wike

Youths of Igburu Clan in Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni local government area of Rivers State  has disrupted a planned endorsement and vote of confidence in the Federal Capital Territory Minister,  Barr. Nyesom Wike.

ONELGA is the home LGA of Prof Ngozi Odu, Deputy Governor of Rivers State.

The youths led Comrade Ambrose, disrupted the meeting which  was organised by Dr. Franklin Nwobuchi the member representing ONELGA Constituency 1 in the Rivers State House of Assembly on Wednesday.

It was gathered that trouble started when the Igburu community stakeholders meeting that was organised to chart  the way forward for the community was turned into an endorsement meeting for the minister.

The youths, it was learnt, after resisting the attempt by some loyalists of FCT minister to manipulate the community gathering to achieve their goal of endorsement him, thereafter, passed a vote of confidence on Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Dr. Franklin Nwobuchi and some others, having sensed danger, abruptly left the venue of the meeting.

Reacting to the development,  Ohia Prince, the immediate past Commissioner for Youths under  Nyesom Wike as governor, accused  the FCT minister of deliberately sidelining the people of ONELGA, adding that as the former governor of Rivers State, he never initiated and completed any project in the area but wanted to turn the area into a theatre of war when he had failed to nominate anyone from the area into  President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

“Wike never started or commissioned any project in ONELGA. But he is excellent at creating political crises in ONELGA.

“In Tinubu’s government, Wike has nominated several people into various sensitive positions; none is from ONELGA. But he wants to visit ONELGA to distribute rice and incite us against us.

“In Fubara’s few months in office, we have had two commissioners in juicy ministries. We have our road projects well funded and ongoing. Yet you want us to abandon Fubara for Wike. Tufiakwa”he said.
