By: Kpazoo Morrison

‎Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Thomas Bariere at the weekend, joined the people of Sii Community on their town square meeting to address matters of urgent public importance.

‎The engagement focused on key development concerns and the need to strengthen collaboration between the council and the community.

‎The Chairman explained that his presence was to deliberate on two critical issues; electricity infrastructure and the proposed town hall project. On electricity, he assured the community that the matter should be considered settled, as the council has taken full responsibility.

‎ He noted that his Special Adviser on Power, had already conducted a comprehensive assessment of existing facilities and requirements, adding that his administration is committed to completing the project for the benefit of the people.

‎Furthermore, Bariere reiterated that efforts are already underway to provide electricity supply and enhance living conditions in Sii community and that repair/installation works will soon commence.

‎On the proposed town hall, the chairman charged the leadership of the community to demonstrate unity and responsibility by providing a suitable site that aligns with the size and accessibility requirements of the project. He consequently gave the community a three-day deadline, ending Wednesday, April 22, 2026, to present an appropriate location to enable the benefactor behind the project to commence work.

‎In addition, he commended the  leadership of Sii community for what he described as courageous leadership, while urging them not to encourage factionalism. He stressed that peace must be sustained at all times, cautioning against any form of division capable of hindering development.

‎The council chairman emphasized the importance of inclusive consultation, advising that youths, chiefs, and the Community Development Committee (CDC) be actively involved in decisions concerning community projects.

‎He  emphasized the broader message of unity, timing, and appreciation of opportunities,  pointing out the need to understand the right time to step aside in the interest of collective progress. He added that blessings can come through anyone, expressing hope that such opportunities would continue to advance the development of Sii community.

‎Consequently, he urged the entire community to remain united and supportive of initiatives designed to foster growth and sustainable development. His call further reinforced the administration’s commitment to participatory governance and grassroots development.

‎In response, Leader, Sii Development Initiative, Gen.
