Council Partners Community on Subsidized Transport Scheme in Khana

By:Kpazoo Morrison

‎In line with his administration’s vision to provide an effective and accessible transportation system, chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Thomas Bariere, has  commissioned a subsidized urban transport scheme aimed at easing mobility challenges for residents in the council area.

‎The council, in partnership with Chief  Igerebu Idemyor of Gbor village in Bane Community, introduced buses to operate along the Bori–Bane route at a reduced fare of N500, a significant drop from the previous N1,500.

‎Speaking at the commissioning, Dr. Thomas Bariere reaffirmed his commitment to implementing people-oriented programmes, stating that his administration will continue to roll out initiatives that have a direct and positive impact on the lives of the people of Khana.

‎On his part, Chief Idemyor noted that his decision to support the initiative was driven by the need to address the exorbitant increase in transport fares and the burden it places on villagers.

‎The scheme is expected to bring relief to market women, commuters, and other residents by cushioning the effects of rising transportation costs within the Local Government Area.
