NDC: Lulu-Briggs calls for party unity, admits primaries not perfect

By: Felix Ikpotor

‎Governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs has called on members of the party eschew division and build a united front against their opponents in the forthcoming elections.

‎Lulu-Briggs said this in a statement after attending the party’s State Working Committee Meeting alongside other candidates in Port Harcourt.

‎He dmitted that the primaries that produced candidates of the party were not perfect but, said the party cannot handover victory to its opponents through having internal divisions.

‎Lulu-Briggs called on other aspirants to keep personal interests aside and work for the success of the party.

‎”No primary process is perfect. Ours was not. But what we cannot afford, what Rivers State cannot afford, is to hand our opponents the victory they could never win at the ballot box by simply watching us turn on each other.

‎”The true beneficiaries of a divided party are always our political opponents. That is not a theory. It is history. So I call on every aspirant, every supporter, every committed member of the NDC to put personal grievance aside and fix their eyes on 2027. The stakes are too high and the moment too important for anything less, ” he appealed.

‎The business mogul cum politician, appreciated the State Chairman,  Success Jack, and the entire State Executive Committee for the work they have done to expand the party’s structure across all twenty-three Local Government Areas and pushing administration down to the ward and unit levels, saying; “This is exactly the kind of foundational work that wins elections. It does not make headlines, but it makes the difference”.

‎He also encouraged all party leaders, mobilizers, and members who worked before, during and after the primaries to keep the process peaceful and transparent, assuring that he is committed to rewarding their gesture with the kind of leadership Rivers State deserves.
