Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), Emma Nwika Deeyah, has commended the Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Thomas Bariere, for his unwavering commitment to promoting peace and security across Khana.
Deeyah made the commendation during a condolence visit to the Khana Local Government Council following the tragic killing of Mr. Letam Kinee by yet to be identified gunmen.
Expressing deep concern over the unfortunate incident, the HYPREP BOT Chairman emphasized the strategic importance of Bori to the Ogoni people, stating that peace in Bori is essential to the stability of the entire Ogoni nation.
”Bori is the traditional headquarters of Ogoni. If Bori is not at peace, Ogoni cannot be at peace,” he said.
He praised the Executive Chairman for the deliberate efforts his administration has made toward restoring peace and strengthening security in the area.
”The Executive Chairman has done a lot to bring peace to Khana,” Deeyah stated.
Reflecting on his personal experience, he further acknowledged the Chairman’s role in resolving conflicts within his own community.
”The Chairman helped me to bring peace in my community,” he added.
Deeyah urged all stakeholders, community leaders, youths, and residents to support the ongoing peace initiatives of the Khana Local Government Council by working together to sustain peace, security, and development throughout the area.
Responding, the Council Chairman appreciated the HYPREP BOT Chairman for the condolence visit and reaffirmed the Council’s resolve to continue collaborating with security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other critical stakeholders to ensure that Khana remains peaceful and secure.
