Barely days after flagging off the first phase of her Educational Intervention Programme, the Deputy Minority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, representing Khana Constituency I, Mrs. Barile Nwakoh, has commenced Phase Two of the initiative by paying the school fees of another batch of indigent students of Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori (KENPOLY).
The intervention followed reports that many students from Khana Constituency I were unable to participate in their examinations due to the institution’s strict “No School Fees, No Examination” policy.
Presenting the beneficiaries to the Deputy Rector Academics of Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Comr. Gbobie Baridakara Peace, Coordinator of the Barile Nwakoh Support Network, said the lawmaker swiftly responded after learning about the plight of the affected students.
According to him, Nwakoh remains deeply committed to ensuring that financial hardship does not deny deserving students access to education.
”Upon hearing that many students from her constituency were unable to write their examinations because of the school’s ‘No School Fees, No Examination’ policy, Hon. Barile Nwakoh immediately approved the payment of their school fees. This intervention demonstrates hercommitment to educational development and the welfare of her constituents,” he stated.
Presenting the official school fees payment receipts to the beneficiaries, the Deputy Rector Academics of the institution, Dr. Edwin Dapper, commended the lawmaker for the timely and selfless intervention.
”When I heard about this initiative, I was genuinely impressed. Politicians often embark on interventions like this when elections are around the corner, but Hon. Barile Nwakoh has chosen to invest in the future of these students at a time when there is no political campaign. That speaks volumes about her genuine concern for the people.
”This gesture is truly heartwarming. I encourage the beneficiaries to maximize this opportunity. Focus on your studies, excel academically, obtain your certificates, and someday you too will be in a position to support others in achieving their educational dreams,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Godspower Barieeba, an HND 1 student of the Department of Business Administration and Management, expressed profound appreciation to the lawmaker for the life-changing support.
”On behalf of all the beneficiaries of Phase Two of the Barile Nwakoh Educational Intervention Programme, I sincerely thank Hon. Mrs. Barile Nwakoh for coming to our aid at this critical stage of our academic journey. Without this intervention, many of us would not have been able to write our examinations because of the school’s ‘No School Fees, No Examination’ policy. We are deeply grateful for your kindness, compassion and commitment to education. May God continue to bless you,” he said.
Also present during the presentation was Comr. Francis Joseph Nee-eenba, Assistant Coordinator of the Barile Nwakoh Support Network, who played a key role in identifying and mobilizing the beneficiaries for the second phase of the intervention.
