Rivers State Government has announced plans to close down the Eastern By-Pass for one month.
Eastern By-Pass is the road which connects the newly commissioned permanent office of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The road also houses the Port Harcourt office of construction giants, Julius Berger and connects Koko-Ama community and Marine Base to the Port Harcourt office of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG.
The State Commissioner for Works, Olisaelloka Tasie-Amadi in a statement said the road will be closed to vehicular traffic from the 24th of March 2021 to the 23rd of April 2021.
The statement said that the closure is necessitated by the need to promptly execute excavation and earthworks in the ongoing road dualization project before the rainy season.
The statement also apologized to motorists plying that route for any inconveniences the closure might have caused.
The commissioner in the statement added that the closure is for the general interest of Rivers people.
The statement reads:
This is to inform the General Public that Eastern By-Pass will be closed to Vehicular Traffic from the 24th of March 2021 to the 23rd of April 2021.
There will be no access from the Eastern By-Pass Roundabout or the Marine Base Roundabout into Eastern By-Pass.
This closure is necessitated by the need to promptly execute excavation and earthworks in the ongoing road dualization project before the onset of inclement weather conditions.
We apologize for all inconveniences even as we urge all and sundry to bear with us in the interest of the general good.
Thank You.
