Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has moved to make the Rivers State College of Arts and Science (RIVCAS), a polytechnic.
This is even as the governor has sent a bill to the Rivers State House of Assembly, RVHA, to that effect.
Presenting the bill in plenary on Tuesday, leader of government business in the house, Martins Amaewhule said the bill (Port Harcourt Polytechnic Bill 2016, HA4) when passed into law would transfer the assets, staff and liabilities of RIVCAS to the Port Harcourt Polytechnic.
Basically, the law seeks to change the nomenclature of the school from its former name to the new one.
It would be recalled that the state government had earlier changed the name of the state owned former Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori to Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori.
