Money laundering: EFCC declares MBA Forex founder wanted

…As victim attempts suicide in Rivers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Maxwell Chizi, the founder of MBA Trading and Capital Investment Limited for alleged conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretense and money laundering to the tune of Two hundred and thirteen Billion Naira.

Investors with the scheme , numbering about 20000 have been protesting and calling on the agency to prosecute Odum and get their funds from the agency.

This is even as a victim of the scheme Mr. Egbe Godey Godson attempted to commit suicide on Tuesday in Port Harcourt.

The EFCC in a statement called on members of the public with useful information that can lead to his arrest to report to the closest EFCC office in their state.

Odum is a native of Elekahia Community in Port Harcourt  City Local Government Area, of Rivers State.

Godson, the Port Harcourt man who, on Tuesday, climbed a telecommunications mast in an attempt to commit suicide said he took the decision after losing a fortune and his life savings to the collapsed MBA Forex scheme.

According  to eyewitnesses, Godson who kept screaming, “I can’t continue anymore; I am tired” before he was rescued by good samaritans, said he got frustrated after numerous protests and petitions against the MBA Forex CEO, Maxwell Odum, failed to yield any result.

The incident happened around the Garrison area of the city.

He lamented that he can no longer pay his children’s school fees and that his landlord has thrown his properties out of his house.

He said, “I want to die because I am tired of what MBA Forex is doing to us. After all the protests in Port Harcourt, the EFCC has refused to arrest MBA Forex owner, Maxwell Odum. My family is frustrated. I cannot fend for my family; I cannot feed my children or pay their school fees. They are all sitting at home when their mates are in school.”

“My landlord has packed out my belongings, and I watch rain beat me and my family. I don’t know how to start life again, and there is no joy for me. [It] is why this morning, I decided to come here and hang myself. God forgive me for this suicide I want to commit. It is because there is no joy.”

He was later arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for attempting suicide.
