Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Senator Magnus Abe has stated that Rivers State would be governed by only someone who is well known by the people of the state.
Abe who spoke at a reception organized to receive him from Abuja by his supporters at Bera in Gokana local government area on Sunday, insisted that his name would be on the ballot for the 2023
“I have said this from day one and I will continue to say it. My name is Senator Magnus Ngei Abe. I will be on that ballot for the 2023 governorship election in Rivers State. We cannot hire somebody who is not known by Rivers people to be governor of Rivers State. We will not accept it”.
He said he is well known by the people of the state from the previous political offices he occupied.
“You all know me when I ran for the Senatorial seat of my district, everything I said that I will do, did I change any one? At this point in Rivers State can we go and hire someone we don’t know to come and be the governor of our state? That is why I will be on the ballot because Rivers people know me, they know what to expect, they know that if I become the governor I will run a government that will take care of you,” he stated.
The former federal lawmaker congratulated the immediate past Minister of Transportation and Presidential aspirant of the APC, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the Chairman of Belema Oil, Tein Jack-Rich for their effort in participating in the just concluded keenly contested APC presidential primaries.
“I particularly want to congratulate two of our own sons, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who contested gallantly. I congratulate him for his spirit of sportsmanship. I congratulate him for having the courage to step forward, and I thank the party and President Muhammadu Buhari for providing a level playing field for everybody to compete freely and fairly.
“I have said here that if you go into a fair contest and you do not win, you will be disappointed but you will not be aggrieved, because to be aggrieved means you have a grievance. Grievance presupposes that something bad was done to you. But when nothing bad was done to you and the delegates choose somebody, you will be disappointed but you will not be aggrieved.
“Nobody in the APC is aggrieved, but some of them may be disappointed. They have done well and we must commend them and thank them”.
“The second person I will specially want to thank today is another of our own son, Dr. Tein Jack-Rich who was also on the ballot. He contested. He may not have gotten any vote but for a young man to come up and have the audacity to say he wants to lead our country and presents his own ideas to the Nigerian people, we must commend him and also congratulate him.
“That battle is now over. A candidate has emerged. It is now our responsibility as Rivers people, as Nigerians to come together even across party lines to deliver a President that can help our country. That person is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that is what we are going to be working for moving forward”, Abe said.
He described Tinubu as the only Nigerian who can create wealth for the betterment of the country and its economy, adding that no other person has done what Tinubu has done to tackle poverty and eradicate under-development.
“I will not support anybody who cannot help this country,” he said.
He said what Tinubu has done as former governor continues to stand him out amongst others.
Abe at the event launched the Project SMA 2023.
