The new Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland, His Eminence, Oba Nwachuku Obuoha Nnam-Obi III will clock one year on the throne on Sunday, 2nd October, 2022. Though there will be no elaborate ceremonies.
The palace media officer, Prince Charles Amadike-Otoboh, said in a statement stated that Oba Nwachuku Obuoha Nnam-Obi III who is the 12th Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland was coronated on Saturday, 2nd October, 2021 at the Ancient Ahiaorie square Omoku in the presence of members of Umu-Ebe royal family who are producers of the Eze Ogba, traditional rulers, chiefs, elders, village and community heads, the political class, senior government officials, cultural troupes, security agencies and that the ceremony was traditionally performed by the Kingmakers, the Umu-Ohali family led by the Eze-Ohali of Ogba land.
According to the statement, within his one year on the throne, the new Eze Ogba has recorded many landmark achievements such as the total ban on secret invocation of juju (voodoo) as well as provision of by laws for juju priests in Ogba Kingdom.
He has also ban proliferation of creation of traditional stools, communities and families in Ogba Kingdom, provision of operational guidelines for masquerade operations in the kingdom, the settlement of warring chieftaincy stools and land disputes in communities, reclassification of chieftaincy titles in the area to avoid abuse and clash of titles among others.
The statement said the new Ogba monarch succeeded his father, His Eminence, Sir (Dr.) Chukumela Nnam Obi II, who died on Friday 30th April, 2021 at the age of 81 years having ruled the kingdom for 50 years and became the longest serving monarch in Nigeria before his demise.
