Flood: Rivers government assures IDPs of enough food supply, relief materials

The Rivers State Government has reiterated its commitment to the provision of healthcare, food items and other relief materials  to victims of flood ravaged communities in the state.

Chairman of the Rivers State Flood Management Taskforce, Dr George Nwaeke, stated this while distributing food items and relief materials to flood victims in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni and Ahoada West LGAs.

Nwaeke said, “the goal of the committee is to ensure those affected by the ravaging flood would be able to live with the kind of comfort like they would have gotten from their various homes.”

According to him, the medical team was already on ground to give appropriate medical intervention where necessary.

Receiving the various items on behalf the flood victims in IDP camps, the chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Mr. Vincent Job and the chairman of Ahoada West local government, Dr. Hope Ikiriko, commended the state governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his timely support towards alleviating the sufferings of those affected by the flood in different parts of the state.

 The chairmen in their separate speeches said it was a clear show of love by the governor to the people; an action that has created hope and energised them in the face of the challenges.

Items received by the council chairmen include bags of rice, bags of beans, bags of garri, cartons of noodles, tubers of yam, cartons of tin tomatoes, gallons of groundnut and palm oil, cartons of bathing and washing soap, Mosquito detergents, and other cooking ingredients.
