By: Felix Ikpotor

As campaigns for the 2023 general elections take centre stage with interest groups aligning with parties and candidates, the Ogbakor Ndi Igbo in Rivers State, a socio-political organisation of Igbos resident in the state have endorsed governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe for the governorship position of the state.

This is even as the group has conferred him with the chieftaincy title of Nwanna Di Nam Mba of Ndi Igbo.

Spokesperson of the group, Felix Onwuma during a meeting with Abe said they will give their support to the SDP candidate.

He stated that the group decided to endorse Abe because of his blueprint for non-indigenes resident in the state.

“Ogbakor Ndi Igbo are going to mobilise massively for the candidacy of Senator Magnus Ngei Abe. He’s a man with compassion, he’s a man with human feelings, he’s a man who doesn’t believe in shedding people’s blood or violence to win elections, he’s peaceful and we want such a man who is calm, cool-headed to be the one to run the affairs of Rivers State come 2023 and we know that with Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe in power as governor, Ndi Igbo will be in a more relaxed environment to do business because he has foresight,” he said.

On her part, women leader of Ogbakor Ndi Igbo, Charity Obiorah promised to mobilise Igbo women to vote for the SDP gubernatorial candidate.

“All the Igbo women in Rivers State, we are in support of him, we endorse him to be the next governor of Rivers State because we so much believe in him that he has solution to the problems of the state and because we have endorsed him, we will come out massively and vote for him and we will go out and mobilise  more people both indigenes and non-indigenes to come out support and vote for him on that day,” she said.

Also speaking, legal adviser of the group, John Obiorah assured that their s

upport is total.

“We are not going to fail you, our word is our bound and this is a contract, we have assured you that we are going to play our own part of the bargain and we leave the rest between you and God,” he stated.
