Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers have threatened  to shutdown vehicular and human activities on the Ahoada section the East-West Road if then  lawmaker representing them in the State House of Assembly, Goodboy Sokari is not immediately released.

The lawmaker who is a loyalist of Governor Siminalayi Fubara was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja during the National Executive Committee Meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party almost two weeks ago.

Speaking with journalists, the party’s Ward 3 Chairman in Ahoada West, Comrade Festus Adai threatened to block vehicular and pedestrian movement within the axis of the Mbiama East-West Road, if Goodboy is not released.

He said: “What happened to Rivers State is very bad by arresting our representative, Honourable Sokari Goodboy Sokari, a member representing Ahoada West in the State House of Assembly. They arrested and detained him without any offence which is not done anywhere in the world.

“We are organising ourselves. The Ijaw Youth Council, the Ahoada West youths and elders are going to block the East-West Road to attract the attention of the Inspector General of Police and President Bola Tinubu, to make them aware of what is going on.

“If Goodboy is not released from now till Monday, April 29, we are going to block the East-West Road and no vehicle will come from the East to the West and nobody will also be allowed to walk on the road.”

Also speaking, a chieftain of the party, Comrade Wisdom Owolo Santos said: “We are not happy. We, the PDP forum in ward 3 condemn such arrest. Even the women and youths are angry over this arrest. Those that joined their governors to Abuja from other states returned without being arrested, why only Rivers State would such thing happen to? We in Ahoada West, we don’t like it.”
