JTF vigilante killed in Rivers

Reports say a member of the Joint Task Force Vigilante was Thursday shot and killed by unknown gunmen gunmen in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Governement Area, Rivers State.

The incident we gathered occurred at about 1:pm along Palace Road, Omoku, headquarters of the council.
The deceased, identified as Nodi Nwachukwu Osam, 27, was until his death, the Provost Marshall of the commander.
According to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity, the assailants opened fire at the vigilante boys, adding that the vigilante boys were not properly equipped to counter the superior force of the killers.
The Vigilante Commander, Adah Nwachukwu, who confirmed the development, appealed to the government and public spirited individuals to equip the force with patrol van, and other logistics to enable them carry out their operations.
He lamented that 20 of his boys had died in the hands of hoodlums terrorizing ONELGA of recent.
In the mean time, a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of ONELGA, Prince Isaac Umejuru has condemned the killing of the security agent, describing it as ” unwarranted attack ” against security agents.
Umejuru decried growing security threat in Omoku, saying that the perpetrators of the act will never go unpunished.
The Rivers State Police Command was yet to comment on the matter at the time of this report.
