APC Primaries: Abe’s supporters protest in Abuja

Aggrieved aspirants and protesters from Rivers State who are believed to be loyalists of Senator Magnus Abe, have besieged the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja and blocked the gates of the building.

The protesters who carried  placards, marched round the secretariat on Friday.

They asked the party to obey the order of the Port Harcourt High Court which nullified the primary elections that produced Tonye Cole as the party’s standard bearer in the state.

A Rivers State High Court had Wednesday, sacked the state executive members of the party loyal to  the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi.

The protesters are demanding that   Magnus Abe be recognised as the governorship candidate in the 2019 general election.

It would be recalled that Abe emerged as governorship candidate of the party via a direct primary conducted by the Chief Peter Odike led faction of the party while Tonye Cole won as governorship candidate through the indirect primaries adopted by the Ojukaye Flag-Amachree faction.
