Mayor of Port Harcourt City Hon Victor Ihunwo has appointed “Emma Wike & Partners” as the only revenue collecting agent of the council for the fiscal year 2021.
This was contained in a statement by Bob Abayomi, Chief Press Secretary of the council.
The Mayor said the council is very much aware that some criminal elements in their “usual manner in the beginning of every year, are about now moving round the city collecting monies from unsuspecting members of the public in the name of the council for taxes and levies”.
Ihunwo in the statement directed members of the public to report such persons to the nearest police station for arrest and prosecution.
He also warned business and property owners in the city who patronize these criminal elements, that any transaction not done through “Emma Wike & Partners” is fake and such business and property owners will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
It added that, “Officials of “Emma Wike & Partners” can be identified by their identity cards and reflective vests duly stamped and signed by the principal partner Esv Emma Okas Wike”.
“Cash payment to revenue agents is prohibited, all payments due the council should be made through the revenue collecting bank of the council.
