Soldiers kill 5 in Oyigbo amidst curfew

No fewer than five persons have been killed in different parts of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State as the manhunt by soldiers for fleeing members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB continues.

Governor Nyesom Wike had last week declared a dusk to dawn curfew on the LGA after a fallout of the #EndSARS protests led to the burning of police stations and killing of police and army officers  including five including civilians.

Wike, who blamed the arson and killing on the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB said the curfew will be on until further notice.

Sources in the area disclosed that the number  of persons that have died from stray bullets  could be more than as the soldiers have been on rampage in the area.

There was heavy shooting by the soldiers in Komkom and Mbano Campand Timber market axis of the area on Thursday.

The sources also said the rampaging soldiers  were going house to house in search of items stolen from the burnt police station on Thursday.

The sources said among the killed was a 19-year-old boy and a father of three who was shot in front of his home.
